Pinellas County’s emergency beach nourishment project, which will include much of Sand Key, Treasure Island and Upham Beach is underway. Work will begin at 197th Avenue in Indian Shores as the County invests $125 million in Tourist Development Tax - paid by visitors - to further enhance our #1 asset and make America’s Favorite Beaches even better!
Beaches will remain open during the nourishment project. However, access will be restricted for small sections of the beach with an active construction area and adjacent parking facilities may be impacted. Residents and visitors are urged to stay clear of active construction zones.
